Sleepy Hallow – Murda She Wrote – Live Session | Vevo Ctrl.

Like his contemporaries Pop Smoke and Sheff G, Sleepy Hallow’s deep voice belies his young age – he’s only 21. That makes the Brooklyn rapper a Gen Z’er with plenty of social media savvy. Makes sense then that most of us got to know him on TikTok thanks to the mega-viral “Deep End” with Fousheé. Through his Winners Circle Entertainment label that he co-owns with Sheff G, Sleepy dropped his ‘Sleepy For President’ mixtape last year, along with ‘The Black House’ EP. He calls ‘No Sleep?’ his proper debut album. It arrives today, and we’re dropping two Sleepy Hallow Ctrl performances to celebrate. Riding a R&B guitar lick, the downtempo “Murda She Wrote” leans the way of melody and maturity. On the other hand, “Chicken” returns to the TikTok sound in which he’s clearly comfortable, looping the infamous “chicken wing chicken wing” sample over some booming 808s and trap hats. That deep voice is consistent, but in both style and substance, it seems like Sleepy Hallow is becoming one of Brooklyn’s most versatile talents.
