As they obliterate gender norms in pop and hip hop music all the while paying homage to Nicki Minaj by drawing inspiration from her debut mixtape “Playtime is Over” also released on July 5th (14 years ago) Mercury moves fluidly through the sounds of pop, hip hop, r&b, and even country, all with their signature colorful playful style that draws from past and present artist such as fellow Houston natives; from Beat King, Destiny’s Child, and Megan Thee Stallion, even traversing the terrain of Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, TLC, Outkast and even Dolly Parton. Mercury has set forth to make a power and lasting impression.
